Miami-Dade and Broward Counties Still Lead the Nation in Foreclosures

Carlos J. Reyes, Esq. - Reyes Law Group

Sad but true, Miami-Dade and Broward counties still lead the nation in foreclosures.

This, despite a 25% year-over-year drop in foreclosure activity during the first quarter of 2014.  According to RealtyTrac, statewide, Florida had the highest foreclosure rate in the first quarter.  One in every 129 homes in the state dealt with some form of foreclosure.

Our practice areas have grown over the last 5 years.  However, our core legal practice focuses on real estate law – transactions, litigation and foreclosure defense in Miami-Dade and Broward.  While many firms and telemarketers have popped up over the last few years, most know just enough to be dangerous.  We handle the full gamut from real estate negotiations to closings to litigating, and more often than not, to settling (via loan modifications and short-sales).  Going to Trial always remains a viable option as well.

Just last month we went to Trial on a 5-year old case.  If you’ve read any of my articles over the last few years, you know the burden is on the bank to “prove their case”.  While most people avoid the poker move of going “all in,” some clients have no choice.  Rest assured, if you refer your clients, contacts, and friends to RLG for handling a foreclosure defense case in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, we have the experience. We have actually won at Trial!  (click here to view Order granting dismissal at Trial.)

Going to Trial is a distinct possibility in foreclosure defense cases. Hiring the right legal team to handle each of the critical components of your foreclosure defense case (e.g., negotiations), is more critical than ever.  At this point, even 4 years after the technical end to the “great recession,” too many people continue to struggle in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.  We’ve already seen too many people lose their homes, nest eggs, or investments.  In many cases, because their legal team failed to have the breadth of knowledge or experience necessary to negotiate a solution to their housing problem.  In today’s housing crisis, you need an experienced legal team that knows litigation strategies, tactics, and procedural rules.  Your legal team must have the ability to negotiate and submit loan modification or short sale packages that stand a better chance of being approved.  Having this full range of legal services is more important than ever!  When we say, we “defend your property, and preserve your rights” – we mean it!
